Passing Online Payment Processing Fees to Customers (AU & NZ Only)
Learn how to pass Stripe and GoCardless payment fees to customers in AU and NZ
You can choose to pass payment processing fees (service charges) on to customers instead of absorbing the cost yourself. This feature is available for both Stripe (card payments) and GoCardless (direct debit) accounts in Australia and New Zealand.

The service charge only applies when a customer pays using Stripe (debit/credit card) or GoCardless (direct debit)

You can configure both:

A percentage

A fixed amount

Please ensure you comply with local regulations regarding surcharging
Stripe (Debit/Credit Card Payments)
To enable service charges for card payments:

On the left menu, go to
Billing -
Select
Settings -
Open
Payment Methods -
Click
Editon the Debit/Credit Card section -
Toggle on
Service Charge Amount to Customer -
Click
Save
After saving, a new section called Service Charge Settings will appear at the bottom of the page.
From there, you can:

Enter the percentage

Enter a fixed amount
-
Save your changes
Once enabled, the configured service charge will be applied to future card payments.
GoCardless (Direct Debit)
To enable service charges for GoCardless payments:

Go to
Billing -
Select
Settings -
Click
GoCardless -
Go to
Settingstab -
Toggle on
Service Charge Amount to Customer -
Enter the percentage and/or fixed amount

Click
Save
The configured service charge will apply to future direct debit payments.
After enabling this feature

Previously processed payments will not be changed
-
Only payments made via Stripe or GoCardless will include the configured service charge
