This guide will help you set up your card terminal and integrate it seamlessly with your new software. We’ll also provide you with a few ways to accept in-person payments. We can't wait to get you started!
01. Setting Up Your Terminal
Get familiar with the parts of your card reader:
We recommend charging your terminal once a day for maximum capability.
Setting up
A few things to check before we get started:
1. Add Company Address
Without a valid address, the terminal won’t work.
In Class Manager (web version) go to Settings
> Company
> Information
and add an address under company detail.

2. Connect Stripe Account
Make sure you have a stripe account connected to Class Manager
To set up a Stripe account, go toBilling
> Settings
> Payment Methods
You will see the option to
Connect
under the Debit/Credit card section.When selecting this you will be redirected to Stripe to set up an account.

- You only need to do this if you’re not already using Stripe with Class
Manager
3. Enable Bluetooth
Make sure your phone has bluetooth turned on.
4. Turn on your Terminal
Power on the terminal and wait for it to initialise
- Press the power button and wait a few seconds for your device to

- In terminal settings, select
Find Terminal
and wait for the device to locate the terminal. - Bluetooth Pairing Request: Your device may ask you to pair your terminal with your phone. Select
Pair
- The terminal should connect automatically
but if not, tap onConnect
. It may take a few seconds to establish the connection. Do not refresh the page during this process. The terminal will sound two short beeps when
connection is established or one long beep when disconnected
What do the icons mean?
Tip: You only need to follow these instructions when you set up the terminal for the first time.

02. Taking Payments
Take a Payment for Existing Invoices (From the Class Manager App)- Go to
Billing
>Invoices
, and select any unpaid invoice
e.gAwaiting Payment
orPart Paid
- Open the menu in the top right corner on the invoice details page and
selectTerminal Payment
(It may take a few seconds to appear). - If needed, the payment amount can be edited. Then, select
Initiate Payment
- When the terminal is ready a message will appear at the top of the screen. The customer can
then proceed with the payment on the reader via chip and pin or contactless.
The payment will be shown on the invoice assignments asDirect Debit
- Go to
Billing
>Payments
and tap on the green terminal icon in the bottom right of the screen. (It may take a few seconds to appear) - Select the customer you will be creating a payment for.
- Select the invoice you would like to assign the payment to.
If you selectAuto Assign
the payment will be added to any outstanding invoice.
If the customer doesn’t have any outstanding invoices, the payment will be added as credits to their account.
- Select the customer you would like to create a payment for and go to the
Invoices
tab. - Select any unpaid invoice.

- On the invoice details page go to

and selectTerminal Payment
. (It may take a few
seconds to appear). - The invoice will be automatically selected. As before, you can change the amount if necessary. Proceed with the payment by selecting
Initiate Payment

Taking the Payment on your Terminal
Terminal Ready
When this message appears at the top of the screen your reader is initiated and the customer can
make the payment.
Payment method accepted
When this message appears at the top of the screen the payment method was accepted and is
being processed.
Payment successful
When this message appears at the top of the screen the payment was successful.
Payment failed
Your reader will give a message with the issue that needs to be resolved (e.g. insufficient funds)

03. Troubleshooting your Terminal
Terminal isn’t connecting
- Make sure the terminal is fully charged before attempting to connect.
Check that Bluetooth and location services are enabled on your device. - If not, go to your phone settings and enable them. The terminal may request
permission to use Bluetooth or Location.
If the terminal has been previously paired with another device, it can only be
used with one device at a time. - To pair it with a new device:
- Delete the terminal from the Class Manager app underSettings
>Terminal
- Forget the reader from your bluetooth devices list in the Apple/Android
settings app.
- Reboot the terminal before attempting to connect it with the new device - If you have closed down the Class Manager App, you may need to reconnect
your terminal. Go toSettings
>Terminal
and pressConnect
