What to Do If You See “This Action Is Only Allowed to Company Owner”

Understanding Your Admin and Staff Logins in Class Manager

When you first create your Class Manager account, the system automatically sets up two profiles for you:

  1. An Admin (Company Owner) profile: This is your main login for managing the overall business settings. You'll use this profile to update your billing and subscription details and access sensitive account information, including payments and invoices from Class Manager.

  2. A Staff profile: This profile is also created using your email when you register. It's used for operational tasks within your school like being assigned to classes and taking registers, etc.

These are both linked to the same email address by default.

Even if you’re running things solo, the staff profile is still essential for using teaching-related features.

Why Am I Getting This Error?

If you see the message:
“This action is only allowed to company owner”
— it means you’re currently logged in using your Staff profile, not your Admin (Owner) profile.

Only the Admin profile has access to sensitive areas like account payment details and subscription settings.

How to Fix It

To access admin-only features:

  1. Log out of your current session.

  2. On the login page, click Forgot Password.

  3. Check your email – you’ll receive two reset links:

    • One for your Staff profile

    • One labeled Company Owner

  4. Click the Company Owner link to set a new password for your Admin profile.

  5. Log back in using the new password – this time, you'll be logged in as the Admin.

💡 Tip: Avoid Confusion Between Profiles

To prevent accidentally logging into the wrong profile:

  • If you want to keep using the same email for both profiles, you can set the same password for each using the Forgot Password option. When logging in, the system will recognise that the credentials match multiple accounts and let you choose which profile to access — Admin or Staff.

  • For even more clarity, you can update the email address on your Staff profile to something different from your Admin (Company Owner) login. This gives you two separate logins, making it easy to know which role you’re logging into: one for daily staff tasks, and one for managing your overall account.
