How to check a customer balance

Find out whether a customer is in credit or debt with you by checking their balance

To see if a customer has overpaid, underpaid, or if they are in credit/debt, you would need the customer balance. Go to the customers' page by heading to 'Customers' and 'View All'. Search and select the customer that you want.

Then, go to 'Billing'. On this tab, you'll see the box 'Balance'.
If 'Balance' is positive - the customer has overpaid and is in credit with you; negative - the customer owes you money (they haven't paid the recent invoice yet).

You can see on this page all records of invoices and payments for this customer.

In the case below, we can see that the customer has a debt of £110. If she pays £200, her balance will be positive £90.

Moreover, you can directly add payment or credit with the option 'Add Payment Plan'. And under group actions: 'Add Payment' and 'Add Credit'.

You can also send an account statement to your customers showing Opening and Closing balance on the account. This article describes how to do that.

Balance Reports

If you need to generate a report showing the current account balance or remaining credit, you would need to go to 'Reports' > 'Customer':

And there you can pick 'Active customer' or 'Customer Overview'. They both have a 'Balance' column:

You can generate reports in CSV or PDF file:
