See if a customer is in credit or debt with your business
To find out whether a customer has overpaid, underpaid, or if they owe money, you'll need to check their balance. Here’s how to do it:
- Click
<
to the right ofCustomers
. - In the expanded menu click
View All
. - Search for and select the customer in question.
- Navigate to the
Billing
tab.
Under the Balance
box:
- A positive balance means the customer has overpaid and is in credit.
- A negative balance indicates they owe you money (they haven't paid the latest invoice).
You can also view all invoice and payment records on this page. For instance, if a customer has a debt of £110 and pays £200, their balance will reflect a positive £90.
If you want to send an account statement to your customer, showing the opening and closing balance, refer to our guide for more details ➡️ Exporting Account Statement
